CLAIREMONT BOY’S TENNIS WORKS TO IMPROVE SEASON RESULTS!
On Tues. the guys competed against SD High School and although they proved to be a tough team, our players didn’t go down without a fight. Congrats to Josh hartman, Taj Kew and Kyan Riddar for scoring wins in their singles matches! In doubles Omar Rodarte & Rocco Chavez had 2 long contested sets winning each of them 7/5 and then a nail biting tie-breaker 7/6 (7-4). In the end our Chieftains fell to the Cavers (5-13).
The next match also proved to be a big challenge against Patrick Henry, who was in last year’s D1 Final losing to LJHS. Despite the tough loss of losing 2-16, the consensus is that the team played “better” overall during this match despite the (1-17) loss. Their intention, determination and footwork were definitely better than their previous match! Congratulations to Luke Steel & Devan Clements for their 6/3 win in doubles giving the team our only victory for the day.
Lastly, our Team played a Non-League match against High Tech High SD, playing a rescheduled match due to rain. Despite losing (7-11) that included two Defaults in favor of The Storm’s the team gave HTH a run for their money! Kudos to Taj Kew for his outstanding play during the match, winning all 3 of his matches played 6/3, 6/0 and 7/5! Also to Kyan Riddar who was moving exceptionally well in his first 2 matches winning 6/0 and 6/2. Additional wins included Yosif Shaheen in singles and our doubles team with Omar & Rocco.
Next week our Chieftains play Mission Bay High on their home courts, Tuesday March 10th. Then the Team hosts Coronado High as the Islanders travel to CHS. Match will begin at 4:00pm.
