The Lady Chieftains fought to the end in a come from behind win to beat Santana High 13-12.

Iris Hallin #19 scored our first goal off the draw. Santana answered with 4.  Mya Gennerman #10 scored to end the first quarter with a score of 2-4.

In the second quarter our defense played stellar only allowing one goal by Santana in the last seconds prior to the half.  Autumn Hingle #23 had a defensive interception in the beginning of the quarter. Mya scored off of a penalty bringing the half-time score to 3-5.  Our goalie Amara Taylor #6  had an impressive 7 saves in the first half.

Santana came out firing in the third quarter and went up 3-8.  Mya scored off of a penalty bringing the score to 4-8. Santana answered with a goal. Mya scored again, 5-9.  Autumn got an interception and after a Clairemont timeout Mya scored, 6-9.  Santana answered.  Autumn scored her first goal of the season prior to the end of the quarter to bring the score to 7-10.

The 4^th quarter was a nail biter.  To start, Ellery Klinefelter #9 had a beautiful assist to Autumn who was cutting down the middle for a goal to bring the Chieftains within 2, 8-10.  Iris came down, took a shot that was blocked by the goalie, however Iris grabbed her blocked ball and put it in, 9-10.  Caden Dulaney #2 scored the tying goal and she quickly scored again to give the Chieftains their first lead since the first goal, 11-10.  Iris scored to make it 12-10 however Santana scored twice to tie it again!  Iris then scored the winning goal and our defense held off Santana.  The Chiefs got the ball and were able to run out the clock for the win!  Again, Amara had another great half to save 7 goals!!

There were so many great defensive plays that I couldn’t keep up. Taylor Parry, #16 had an interception and a ground ball.  Addyson Gennerman #11 had 2 groundballs.  Kudos to all the Lady Chieftains!!
