FLAG Season Recap


The Lady Chieftains wrapped up an incredible 2025 flag football season, finishing the regular season with an impressive 14–4 record and securing 2nd place in the Eastern League with a record of 8-2. This year brought new challenges, including a move upward from DIV 4 to DIV 3, and an new group of seasoned flag football freshman. The team rose to the occasion with determination, grit, and undeniable growth and notoriety in the section.

Their strong seasonal performance earned them a spot in DIV 2 CIF playoffs, where they opened with a thrilling matchup against Del Norte. The Chieftains battled their way to a hard-fought victory, punching their ticket to the quarterfinals against Imperial. In a nail-biter that went into overtime, the Chieftains ultimately came up short—but not without showcasing their heart, resilience, and championship mindset. Somethings that they will carry into the upcoming seasons to come.

This year, the team as earned notable recognition in the rankings with a season ranking of #16 in San Diego, #18 in the San Diego Section, and #137 in California.

In addition, several Chieftains stood out this season with top-10 rankings in various stats across league:

  • Megan Castel (’28)
  • Kacey Otterman (’29)
  • Harper Gillich (’29)

Each of these athletes, and those not mentioned, contributed to the team’s overall success this 2025 Fall season.

For a sport that is 3 years old (CIF) and from a roster that started with just under a dozen players (the team now has 16 dedicated athletes), the program continues to grow alongside the rising popularity of girls flag football. With stronger performances, deeper talent, and a culture of excellence, the future is brighter than ever for the Lady Chieftains – and the best is still ahead. Until next season!
