Chieftains Continue to Focus on Wins!!!
On the tennis courts the Boy’s Tennis Team faced Patrick Henry at PHHS on Tuesday. Though the team really stepped up their play, it was an uphill battle against a team that will most likely be in the Open Division next year. On Thursday our Chieftains faced Mission Bay HS on our Home Courts. Although it seemed it would be the opportunity to take our first win, it wasn’t to be. The team did fight hard to secure six wins though … Yosif Shaheen, Taj Kew, Josh Hartman, Kyan Riddar and our doubles specialists, Rocco Chavez & Omar Rodarte all were able to pull out wins! Congrats to Taj Kew for striving to go of 3 out of 3 in Singles wins, falling just short but being the only player to win 2 matches on the day! Another shout out to Kyan Riddar for his “repeat” win over the Buccaneer that he faced in the previous match against MB!!! Kyan’s tenacity and effort really paid off beating the MB player 6-2 in the end.
This week, the team will be wrapping up its official League Season play against Coronado at Coronado on Tuesday, and then preparing for the League Tournament the following week, as well as potentially CIF Team and Individuals.
On a lighter note, the Boy’s Tennis Team did have the opportunity to recognize its 7 Seniors that will graduating at the end of the year. Friends, family and teammates were all present as we commemorated their tenure and successes on the tennis courts. It was great to see so many people come out and the decorations, gifts and banners all looked fantastic!!!
