GTENN Participates in the 20th Annual Pete Brown First Serve Tournament

The Girls played two matches last week against Hoover HS (14-4) on Tuesday and Crawford HS (13-5) on Thursday. Against Hoover our doubles teams played outstanding tennis, winning all of their 6 matches 6-0!!! Congrats to Mya, Samantha, Autumn, Madison, Yaretzi and Skye for some amazing doubles play. Then against Crawford, our Chiefs did not let up. Our doubles teams came ready to compete giving up only 6 games in the 9 matches that were played and our singles line-up contributed to the overall win, winning 5 of their 9 matches! Congrats to Kennedy for her consistency throughout the day, and to Sierra for playing an amazing first round match that ended in a nail-biting tiebreak which she won (8/6).
On Saturday the Team traveled to Canyon Hills to compete in the Pete Brown First Serve Tournament! I was impressed by how each of our players on the Team performed throughout the day! With the format of playing 3 singles and 3 doubles over the course of 5 rounds, the level of play seemed to increase as the day went on. In true Clariemont Girl’s Tennis form, the last match proved to be the most important – if we would be able to pull off all 6 wins, the team would clench 2nd place. Unfortunately our Chief’s fell a bit short to Poway HS, but Clairemont definitely left a lasting impression on each of the schools we faced, including Poway! Shout out to singles players Mya Gennerman and Kennedy Lin for playing some incredible tennis in their final singles matches, to Sierra Cathlinat for winning another tiebreak match and to the Doubles Team of Yaretzi and Samantha for puling out their win after coming from behind 0-2. Way to Go Team!!!
